Our Duty as Citizens
“The Americans are the first people whom Heaven has favored with an opportunity of deliberating upon and choosing the forms of government under which they should live.” (John Jay, 1890)
“The preservation of the sacred fire of liberty and the destiny of the republican model of government are justly considered, perhaps, as deeply, as finally staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people.” (George Washington, 1789)
We have been entrusted with the preservation of a miracle of great importance — a form of government which acknowledges the existence of unalienable rights — rights authored by God Himself, and a government which exists to secure and protect those rights. From the beginning, America has been in danger of imploding. Today, the Marxists cry out for revolution and a complete overthrow of this miracle that took centuries to birth. Will the collapse of our republic come on our watch? Let it not be!
The unusual times we find ourselves in have brought attention to home education. I am confident that we will see policies rise out of this crisis seeking to restrict our natural rights as parents to raise and educate our children. As in the days of Nehemiah when the walls around Jerusalem lay broken leaving the inhabitants vulnerable, the foundations of our country are also crumbling, and it is up to us to rebuild them and secure our own safety. Pray the Lord will show you where your place is on the wall your place is and give you the courage to take it.
I implore you to take seriously your duty and responsibility as citizens of heaven and citizens of this nation. As you prepare to vote, remember what those in control of the government in our state have done these past two years and vote accordingly. While CHEC cannot support any candidates, I am confident that you will make an informed vote and that God will confirm what you know to be the right choice. For those all-too-confusing ballot issues, I recommend taking a look at the Centennial Institute’s Ballot Guide.
Join me in praying for the wisdom to know how to prepare for the days ahead and the strength to walk in the path He directs for us all.
Trusting in the mighty power and grace of Jesus,
Carolyn Martin, CHEC Legislative Liaison
