The homeschool freedom we enjoy today in Colorado must be guarded carefully. CHEC’s Colorado Homeschool Freedom Team works throughout the year keeping watch on legal issues, reviewing thousands of proposed bills for their potential effect on home education, parental rights, and religious liberty. The Colorado Homeschool Freedom Fund, a ministry of CHEC, helps us fulfill this purpose. (Donate to the fund here.)
CHEC’s Homeschool Legislative Liaison is Carolyn Martin. A homeschool mom herself, Carolyn has been on the watch for Colorado parental and homeschool freedom for several years. Homeschool freedom pioneer Treon Goossen served as an encouragement and inspiration to her.
Today, Carolyn monitors legislation at the Capitol in both the House and Senate with consideration for Colorado homeschool freedom and parental rights. During the legislative season (January through April), Carolyn shares a regular update on the CHEC Blog, keeping families informed and educated on the current legislative front. Their mission is to defend the parental rights of Christian home educating families against illegitimate attacks by social services.
