Please Note: Colorado Law has three options for homeschooling. This page covers Non-Public School Law. Make sure this is what you’re looking for by checking out this breakout of the options.
What is a Non-Public School?
Under the Non-Public School Law, independent schools (such as CHEC’s) serve as an “umbrella” for Colorado homeschooling families.
Find all the Non-Public School laws here. Independent schools are responsible to follow the Non-Public School laws. Each individual independent school then sets its own policies.
Benefits of homeschooling under a Non-Public School (Independent School)
When you choose to homeschool under the Non-Public School law, you can . . .
- Decide on the independent school that’s best for your family
- Educate your children at home
- Submit records directly to the independent school (not the local school district)
- Fulfill the requirements of the independent school instead of the Homeschool Law
Colorado has lots of independent schools available to choose from. We recommend our very own – the CHEC Independent School.
