By CHEC Legislative Liaison Carolyn Martin
The 2017 Colorado Legislative session, my first on staff as CHEC’s Homeschool Legislative Liaison, has been a learning experience for me, and I know I still have much to learn! I could not have done it without your prayers and support. I am most grateful to the Lord for His guidance in the avenues to pursue and which to leave in His hands.
There are several Christian groups that keep the watch at the Capitol. Sometimes our work overlaps, and I have been privileged to work with and learn from other groups. Unfortunately, the groups that work against traditional Christian values are well organized and well-funded, while on our part we struggle to put up a respectable presence. Thankfully, God has placed a number of legislators that are sympathetic to our viewpoint at the Capitol.
The bills we fought against this year will most assuredly be back next session, as well as new assaults to our freedoms. The battle can become tiresome without sufficient workers. I cannot tell you how much you are needed!
I hope you are planning to be at the CHEC Rocky Mountain Homeschool Conference so I can tell you more about how you can help and about my impressions of this past session. You can find me at the CHEC Booth in the Vendor Hall during the following times:
- Thursday 10 am – 2 pm and 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm
- Friday 10 am – 1 pm
- Saturday 12 – 2 pm.
Please, stop by and see me!
Trusting in the mighty power and grace of Jesus,
Carolyn Martin, CHEC Legislative Liaison
