New Year, New Beginnings
The new legislative session is upon us. New leadership will take control of every aspect of the state government. For those of us who are followers of Jesus, all this newness means we are in for a bumpy ride for the next several years. Though they will speak of fairness and equality, your parental rights and religious liberty are not safe.
My daughter, Hope, gave me a plaque for Christmas declaring 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Stand firm…be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” As I go into this session, I am holding fast to this verse.
The Lord has called me to lovingly speak truth and bring light into a very dark place. Though our churches are safe harbors proclaiming truth, you must know that the culture at large is against, not us specifically, but the God we serve. The effort to push Jesus out of every corner of our culture is becoming fiercer.
The battle has been laid at our feet. Our challenge is to stand firm for the Lord and show the hurting and broken the way to redemption and true freedom.
As Christian homeschoolers, you are on the front lines, whether you know it or not. Every day that you nurture, teach, and disciple your children you are advancing His kingdom and are a threat to the world system. Take heart and be strong in the Lord!
Stay tuned to the CHEC blog for updates on how your freedoms are faring at the Capitol. Also, consider joining the Colorado Homeschool Freedom Team. Be ready to give an answer for the hope that lies within you to anyone who asks and be ready to storm the Capitol if need be. Remember, the battle is the Lord’s, but we are His hands and feet for such a time as this.
Trusting in the mighty power and grace of Jesus,
Carolyn Martin, CHEC Legislative Liaison
