Homeschooling has been free in Colorado for more than 30 years, thanks to faithful partnerships and God’s kind blessing. The battle for homeschool freedom in Colorado began in the 1980s, and God worked through the very first small homeschool conference, held in 1990, to grow a movement that continues to this day. Now, CHEC continues to reach more families with our vision of home discipleship that is Christ centered, parent directed, and free from government control.
The Colorado Legislature closed its session this past May with a whopping 657 bills introduced, including numerous attacks on parental rights and religious liberty, which threaten your freedom to homeschool. To review the hard-fought battles that took place during this session, read this overview post and download the CHEC 2025 Homeschool Freedom End-of-Session Report.
CHEC’s Homeschool Freedom Team, led by Colleen Enos, Director of Government Relations, is committed to faithfully standing watch — and taking action — to protect your homeschool freedom, parental rights, and religious liberty for now and for future generations. If you’re a homeschooling parent in Colorado, we need you to stand with us in this effort.

As threats to parent-led homeschooling increase in Illinois, Virginia, and Connecticut, the Colorado Homeschool Freedom Team MUST expand to meet the growing need to be on guard in our state. When you join the Homeschool Freedom Team with your financial support, you are equipping CHEC to be present at the Capitol when you can’t be, standing for homeschool freedom and parental rights throughout the year, to protect your freedoms in the state of Colorado.
This summer, we’re raising $45,000 to fill the Colorado Homeschool Freedom (CHF) Fund, positioning us to continue our efforts with perseverance into the coming year. To reach this goal, we need to raise approximately $1,400 per day.
Will you help us achieve the goal of $45,000 by donating to the Colorado Homeschool Freedom Fund this July?
What does the Homeschool Freedom Team do?
The Colorado Homeschool Freedom (CHF) Fund drives all of CHEC’s legislative work, including the staff position of our Director of Government Relations. The Homeschool Freedom Team also includes a prayer team and informed individuals who take action when called upon to do so (such as Day at the Capitol and Meet Your Legislator Day), and support all of these efforts through their donations.
Many of you know Colleen Enos and how she works faithfully throughout the year (during the legislative session and beyond) to examine hundreds of bills, communicate graciously with legislators in personal meetings, prepare regular prayer reports to keep Colorado families informed, post Legislative Updates twice a month, explain legislation to homeschool groups around the state, monitor new regulations and initiatives in Colorado, engage with media through interviews, podcasts, and articles, and much more.
The CHF Fund also helps our CHEC staff maintain smooth communication through various channels, including our CHEC website, blog, email newsletters, phone calls, social media posts, and many more. These tasks are essential for keeping you informed and engaged as we stand together for freedom.
This behind-the-scenes work keeps you and thousands of other homeschool-freedom-loving families informed on things that matter — equipping you to take action when needed.
How can I join the Homeschool Freedom Team?
This summer, CHEC is inviting families from around the state to help us reach our goal of raising $45,000 for the CHF Fund by July 31st, through the Colorado Homeschool Freedom Fund Summer Drive. You can join this effort by making a one-time donation or setting up a monthly recurring gift — both methods will contribute to the CHF Fund. You can also share this post with homeschooling friends you know, who may not be aware of this Summer Drive.
Will you commit to standing with CHEC in protecting homeschool freedom here in Colorado? To meet this goal, we need to raise $1,400 per day — that’s one $500 donation, two $250 donations, three $100 donations, and two $50 donations every day for the month of July. Will you partner with us and give today for your homeschool freedom tomorrow?
