Enslavement to the Government
By Carolyn Martin, CHEC Director of Government Relations
The structure of the government we have built over the past 100 years is now a tool to strangle our liberty and freedom. The Executive Branch has become the consolidation of power James Madison warned us about when he said,
“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”
– James Madison
The legislature has given its power to make law over to the many departments under the governor’s control by granting them broad rule-making authority. During the recent virus scare, it was the governor along with state and county health departments that issued orders to shut down, mask up, and get vaccinated. And, it was the Executive Branch’s Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) that threatened to take away the ability of businesses and doctors to operate in the state if they did not comply with their orders. Lawmakers had nothing to do with it. James Madison’s much-feared tyranny has been realized.
In the education realm, there is an executive branch department that regulates K-12 education and another for higher education in the state. While legislators provide some guidance through lawmaking, these departments have immense power to create and implement standards through the rulemaking process. Last week, a bill that is over 500 pages long passed through the Colorado House to create yet another education department. This one will oversee all the programs the state offers to parents of young children. But be careful! If you think the department won’t touch your family because you won’t be using their services, you would be mistaken.
In the information age we live in, data is king. They will be using this new department to gather information on every child in the state. For now, they are just setting up the infrastructure to do so, but the department is charged with tracking long-term life outcomes on all children eligible to go to preschool – that would be all children under at least five years old.
The tentacles of this growing government are reaching further into our families with each passing year. To stay free, we must get our sustenance from God and the body of Christ and steer clear of government entanglements. It is time for the body of Christ to provide support for our fellow brothers and sisters so none need seek help from a government, whose goal it is to enslave us.
