What is CHEC?

Introductory Letter

Dear Colorado Homeschooling Parent:

I am so glad to have the opportunity to team up with you along your homeschool journey, and I trust that this Homeschool Guidebook will prove to be an invaluable resource for you.

Since 1990, Christian Home Educators of Colorado (CHEC) has been standing for homeschool freedom, equipping Colorado homeschool families with the practical tools they need, and casting the biblical vision of family discipleship that is essential for lasting success.

We’ve included this section in your Homeschool Guidebook so that you can learn about the history, milestones, and ministry activity of your state homeschool organization here in Colorado. As you’ll see, God has greatly expanded the ministry of CHEC through the years and has allowed us to develop a host of events, resources, and programs that serve the homeschool community of Colorado.

I am privileged to work alongside an incredibly dedicated and gifted team of staff and volunteers who continue to keep CHEC at the forefront of the Christian homeschool movement.

During the last 40 years, homeschooling has seen tremendous growth in Colorado, across our nation, even throughout the world. Currently, there are an estimated 2.3 million home educated children nationwide. Homeschooling works, and there are plenty of stats to prove that homeschoolers excel academically.

That said, what really gets me excited about homeschooling is not its ability to produce smart students, but rather the opportunity it presents parents to help those students love God with all their heart, soul, and mind. You are to be commended for your love for your children which is demonstrated by your choice to tackle an education model that few in our culture even consider.

As a homeschool graduate, I can testify first-hand to the profound effect that this choice can make on your child’s life.
