Important update on HB 19-1312

Hello friends,

After six hours of debate on the House floor, HB19-1312 School Immunization Requirements passed 2nd reading late last night. We praise God that the bill was amended to exclude homeschoolers from the new immunization requirements of this bill. This includes all children under the Home-Based Education Law (whose parents submit a Notice of Intent) and all those enrolled in an Independent School (such as the CHEC Independent School).

As you know, we’ve worked hard to oppose this bill. We are grateful for the thousands of you who joined us by calling and emailing Representatives, attending hearings, and presenting testimony to stop or amend the bill. And we praise God for allowing the bill to be amended to exempt homeschoolers!

However, our work is not yet done and we still fundamentally oppose this bill because it violates parental rights. It is scheduled for third reading and passage in the House tomorrow, Thursday, April 25th, and then will proceed to the Senate. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with those who are still fighting its attack on parental rights, and we encourage you to continue to voice your opposition. Visit our action page for current steps.
