Homeschooling is a life of high adventure. There was the initial plunge, and there’s always something new along the way — something unexpected, something that doesn’t work anymore, something that makes things harder than it seems like they should be … and then there are some things that are surprisingly good, experiences that are surprisingly exciting, and relationships that are surprisingly sweet. 

As homeschooling families, we choose this path because we know it matters. Yet, as much as we know that homeschooling matters, not everyone else believes it. Since we live in a country where our Christian foundation is being torn down and disregarded, it’s more crucial than ever before to make sure we don’t keep the importance of homeschooling and all that it signifies — religious liberty, parental rights, Christian foundations, and God’s design for the family — to ourselves.

I was reading a small periodical recently and came across a story about the great physicist, Albert Einstein. It immediately reminded me of something I occasionally see manifested in veteran home educators.  The story goes like this:

“Einstein was once traveling from Princeton on a train when the conductor came down the aisle, punching the tickets of every passenger. When he came to Einstein, Einstein reached in his vest pocket. He couldn’t find his ticket, so he reached in his trouser pockets. It wasn’t there, so he looked in his briefcase but could not find his ticket. Then he looked in the seat beside him.  He still couldn’t find it.
