Which World?
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2
Again our country mourns. The STEM school shooting here in May. Gilroy last month. El Paso and Dayton this past weekend.
Theories abound on why these tragedies happen. The people look to the government and the law to solve the problem. Governmental leaders, eager to do something, will give the people what they seek. There will be laws brought forth that restrict freedom in the name of protection and safety. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying we should go back to the wild west, but any restriction of freedom comes with a cost and knee jerk reactions always produce governmental overreach — whether we are talking about guns or mental health.
I contend that we need to look at the root causes, not just the problem, and there are many. As I look into the state of our education system in America, I can with great confidence say that our state-controlled education system is one of the root causes. Our education system is being used to transform our youth into social justice activists with a humanistic worldview that is antithetical to the God of the Bible. The continued breakdown of our country’s moral compass is directly related to what is being taught in our schools. Children are born with a God-given conscience. That conscience is being assaulted on a daily basis and we wonder why mental health has become such a problem. Truth is no longer valued in education; they are intent on molding the heart of our children to conform to the patterns of this world. It doesn’t matter anymore whether our youth can read or write. Their attitudes about socialism, climate change, gun control, environmentalism, and immigration are more important.
“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5
We are reaping what we have sown. It’s time that we start asking the tough questions and looking to our Creator for the answers instead of man. If you’re thinking you’re safe because you homeschool your children, be careful — homeschooling has a target on its back! While it’s essential that we stand united together against any government intrusion in home education, we also need to push back against the moral transformation happening in our country because it impacts us all. Join me in the battle!
