Reasons to Come to Meet Your Legislator Day
As homeschool families, we are in a unique position to make a difference for our family’s rights. Because our schedules are flexible, we can make the time to come to the Capitol to communicate with our representatives and hold them accountable.
Not only that, but we can study the history of our nation and our government in as much depth as we desire, using that knowledge to bring lessons learned throughout history to the problems we experience today. Let us use these opportunities to make adifference for our family’s rights and our posterity’s rights.
Reasons to attend Meet Your Legislator Day, January 23rd:
- Demystify the process of engaging your representatives for you and your children. In our form of government, a representative republic, your legislators represent you. They live in and care about your area. Their job is to make laws that benefit everyone in your area, but doing that requires that they hear from the many diverse people who live in their area.
- Make your voice heard in a non-threatening, relational way. Because they represent us and are our neighbors, approaching them in a conversational way can bring much-needed discussion to the issues that plague our society today.
- Open the door to engage in further conversations about issues you care about. Once a relationship is established through mutual respect, the door is open to further discussions and their willingness to listen to your viewpoint and the solutions you advocate for is heightened.
- Experience first hand how the legislative process works. At first, the process of how a bill becomes a law and what role your representative plays in that process, may seem overwhelming, but seeing it in action brings clarity and understanding you just can’t get from a book!
Can’t wait to see you there!
