Homeschooling in Colorado? Want to get your kids excited about writing and the arts? Here are four contests open to your homeschooled students.

Sower and Harvest Short Story Competition

Burning Bush Press is launching their first ever writing contest for homeschoolers, sponsored by Institute for Excellence in Writing and and Schoolhouse Teachers.com. The contest is geared toward homeschool students grades 3 – 8. For the story starters, guidelines, prizes, and other information, visit BurningBush.Press.

Congressional Art Contests

If you live in the 4th Congressional District: Congressmen Ken Buck (4th Congressional district) sponsors an annual Artistic Discovery Contest for high school students. Winning artwork will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for a year, along with pieces from all over the nation. Art will also be in included on the House.gov art page.

If you live in the 6th Congressional District: Congressman Mike Hoffman sponsors the high school congressional art contest for the 6th district. Winning artwork will appear in the Cannon House Office Building Tunnel in Washington D.C. The first-place winner will receive two free round-trip airline tickets to view their artwork and will be eligible for a scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design.
