Are you Homeschooling A Unique Learner?
Homeschooling a unique learner can be life-changing – with a lot of challenge thrown into the mix! Whether your child is a gifted learner or a struggling one, has a learning or medical/physical disability, or anything in between, CHEC’s team is here to help you as you home educate them for a life of purpose and joy.
Unique Learners Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ: Should I take advantage of services offered by public schools?
Public schools are not obliged to provide services unless you follow their stipulations. Therefore, if they require enrollment, there is nothing in the law to make them provide services without enrollment. However, some schools might provide the services without enrollment, or some will provide the service if you are enrolled in a private school that does not provide such services.
FAQ: My child already has an IEP from a public school. What should I do?
If your child has an IEP at the time you withdraw them to homeschool, you should send an IEP Withdrawal Letter to the public school. Download a template here, then use it to create your own and submit along with your Notice of Intent or your withdrawal form from the Independent School you enrolled with.
(This sample letter was created by HSLDA and has specific instructions for its use.)
