Upcoming Introductory Seminars

Monday, January 11th, 2010

We just held another Introductory Seminar in Parker last Saturday, but have more to come to meet your needs.  The upcoming dates include:

January 16th – Colorado Springs

March 20th – Denver Metro

April 24th – Denver Metro

As more families consider the option of teaching their children at home, it is imperative that a comprehensive introduction to the how, what, why and where of home schooling be available year around. CHEC’s professionally-presented introductory seminar meets this need with valuable training and information, such as…

Things to consider before beginning
Learning styles and teaching styles
Support groups
Record keeping and scheduling
Special needs children
Junior high and high school (curriculum, diplomas, transcripts)
The home school law in Colorado
How to be successful in your home school
Success of home schooling and the philosophy of home schooling
Answers to objections (socialization, etc.)
What to do to avoid burnout

The seminar includes video and overhead presentations, and is conducted by veteran home schoolers.

Each attendee will receive a syllabus with a copy of the homeschool law and other vital information.

There will be an extensive selection of curriculum and academic supplements available for your perusal and purchase, to help you get a good start on your homeschooling journey.

The seminar is priced in such a way as to make it available to everyone. The full session (from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm) costs $30. A spouse or child may come for no additional charge. The Homeschooling Introductory Seminar is crucial for those seriously considering homeschooling. To register for the next seminar, please download the Registration Form and mail with payment to CHEC, 10431 S Parker Rd, Parker, CO 80134.

God bless your 2010!

2009 Homeschool Progress Report

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Dr. Brian Ray of the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI) completed the 2009 homeschool academic performance and demographics report.  The results can be found here.

These results show that homeschoolers are doing just fine academically (in the 80+% compared to 50% for public school norm on national standardized achievement tests) and it is  independent of parental education level, income, amount of government regulation, teacher certification, or amount spent per child.

If you are considering homeschooling, come out to our seminar this Saturday, November 14th,  in Parker (information on our events page).  We’ll talk about academics, but also about character and a larger vision:

CHEC hosted another Intro Seminar for those curious about homeschooling. Some attendees were already homeschooling, while others had either made the decision or were considering the possibility.  Scott Davidson, our Events Coordinator, worked alongside Todd Storrie and Chris & Jenny Galanek to make this possible–thanks gents!
