Last weekend, CHEC held its first annual Homeschool Leadership Retreat at the beautiful Glen Eyrie Conference Center in Colorado Springs. About 50 homeschool group leaders from around the state attended the retreat, maxing out the space we had reserved!
The Homeschool Leadership Retreat was one of the goals that CHEC’s leadership team set for this year, and we are thankful that God allowed these plans to come to fruition in such a successful way.
There are several objectives that CHEC has for the Homeschool Leadership Retreat.
First, CHEC desires to bless and refresh these homeschool group leaders whose immense labor of love touches many, many families on a regular basis throughout the year. The face-to-face wisdom and encouragement they provide their members, as well as the opportunities they facilitate for community and shared learning are critical components of keeping homeschooling healthy and strong in Colorado.
Next, CHEC believes that investing in and equipping the homeschool leadership of Colorado is an important part of our role as Colorado’s state homeschool organization.
At this retreat workshops focused on biblical leadership and biblical conflict resolution. One of the highlights of the weekend was a moderated group discussion where leaders had the opportunity to ask and discuss common questions as a group.
Finally, CHEC wants to strengthen our partnerships with homeschool group leaders in order that we might minister to homeschool families together more effectively.
The Homeschool Leadership Retreat provided an excellent opportunity for us to build relationships within the community of homeschool group leaders. I believe these relationships will enable us to be a stronger force here in Colorado.
Friends, we can’t forget that we are in a battle for the future of our families and our children.
We need strong and godly leaders who will stand firm against the tremendous opposition that the Christian homeschool movement faces. Without clear and consistent leadership, many families will lose their way.
Thank you for partnering with us as CHEC endeavors to encourage and equip our Colorado homeschool leaders!
Sincerely,
Steve Craig
Executive Director
