Generations and CHEC are pleased to bring you the Homeschool Curriculum Summit, a free event hosted online May 3-10. Here’s a little about our purpose behind this event.
“Children are a gift from the Lord.”
Sounds so nice, doesn’t it?
As a homeschool parent, depending on the day or the hour you read that statement, you may smile with warm feelings. Or you may laugh rather hysterically. Or you may sigh with a heavy heart. Our gifts don’t always feel like gifts while we’re in the nitty-gritty of homeschooling.
However, as Christian homeschool families, our heart is to know the truth from God’s Word and apply that to life. So we read what He says about our children: “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth.” (Psalm 127:3-4)
… and we recognize God’s view, that children are indeed a gift from Him.
Thus, our investment of days and months and years spent on potty-training and field trips and how-to-read lessons and math quizzes and history books and grading charts – it is of great value, as we seek to care for these gifts He has entrusted to us.
The question is, how can we invest well?
The first place to start with any question is always in God’s Word.
In this case, we can start right back in the same chapter where we were reminded that our children are a gift:
“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain” (Psalm 127:1-2).
Here we are reminded that if we do not we begin with the Lord as the foundation of every endeavor, then ALL of our efforts will be worthless. Worse, when we forget the Lord, our efforts can even work against His ways.
We must begin with seeking the Lord in all things, and that includes our homeschools!
The teams of Generations and CHEC are convinced that we must start with the Lord and His truth before beginning anything new, and that when we do so, blessing follows.
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers, but his delight is in the law of the Lord…. In all that he does, he prospers” (Psalm 1:1-3).
And that is at the root of our purpose for hosting the Homeschool Curriculum Summit: to help you learn to to evaluate curriculum options from a Christian worldview, identify the right fit for every subject, for every child, and homeschool with confidence. Todd and Jessie, hosts of the event, will dialogue with over 25 speakers to discuss things like:
- Why math works (it’s because of the immutability of God!)
- What language arts is and how to keep it simple (starting with reading to your kids!)
- How to present science from a biblical perspective (especially in our culture of evolution and death)
- Why it is so important to keep God as the central focus of history (because all history is written with a bias!)
- And much more
The whole event free if you sign up by May 3rd, and in addition to the video content, you’ll also get these bonuses:
- An easy-to-search online vendor hall (with exclusive discounts)
- Free e-book, Family Education by Kevin Swanson
- A private Facebook group to connect with other attendees
Together, we’ll learn how to choose educational tools with wisdom and a biblical perspective, so that we can have confidence in the Lord as we raise up the next generation of Christians.
We sincerely hope you will join us!
