December is almost here, and it’s the perfect time of year to make some family memories! Thankfully, Colorado is overflowing with opportunities for fun (and educational) Christmas events the whole family can enjoy. Here are some ideas to get you started …
Denver Parade of Lights
Experience Christmas with Denver’s Parade of Lights on 16th Street Mall in Denver held on Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3. Free. Denver Parade of Lights.
Handel’s Messiah Performance
Village Seven Presbyterian in Colorado Springs sponsors a free performance of Handel’s Messiah, a choral version of the Christmas story taken right from the Bible. On Saturday, December 3, they’ll perform an abbreviated child-friendly version with the full version on Sunday, December 3. For your musically-oriented students, try finding a copy of Handel’s score and letting them follow along. Free. Handel’s Messiah Performance.
Denver Zoo Lights
The Denver Zoo Lights span the 70 acres of the Denver Zoo and run from December 2 to January 1. Tickets Required. Denver Zoo Lights.
Blossoms of Light
Denver Botanic Gardens holds Blossoms of Lights, a family-friendly light display and Christmas event, from November 25 to January 1. Also see the Trail of Lights at their Chatfield Location. Tickets Required. Blossoms of Light.
Colorado Springs Festival of Lights

Breakfast in Bethlehem

Christmas with the Colorado Children’s Chorale
Christmas with the Colorado Children’s Chorale is the children’s chorale annual Christmas concert held this year at the Boettcher Concert Hall in Denver on Saturday, December 3, and Sunday, December 4. Tickets Required. Christmas with the Colorado Children’s Chorale.
Tis’ the Season with the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale
The Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale will be presenting Tis’ the Season, a Christmas concert with all their choirs along with a guest boy choir. The performance will be held at the Pikes Peak Center on December 6. Tickets Required. Tis’ the Season with the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale.
Deck the Halls Christmas Concert

Tidings From Bethlehem
The Tidings From Bethlehem Christmas concert will include a 80+ voice choir directed by the Vocal Arts Chair at the University of Denver and a professional orchestra sponsored by Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church. Holiday’s Evening at the Littleton Historical Museum

Many Lights of Christmas
Many Lights of Christmas is an unique drive-through display of over a half-million lights with favorite Christmas characters sponsored by Springs First Church, December 11-13 and 18-21. Free. Many Lights of Christmas.
Holiday Evening at Rock Ledge Ranch
Enjoy a Holiday Evening at Rock Ledge Ranch with lantern light tours in the 1860s homestead cabin, victorian celebrations in the 1880s Rock Ledge House, jingle-bell rides, and more on Saturday, December 17. Entrance Fee. Holiday Evening at Rock Ledge Ranch.
The Nutcracker
The Nutcracker Ballet is presented by the Colorado Youth Ballet and the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs and will be held at the Pikes Peak Center December 19-21. Tickets Required. The Nutcracker.
Ice Skating
