A federal judge ruled schools can expel students, like Julea Ward, who believe homosexuality is morally wrong. Ward’s lawsuit against Eastern Michigan University was dismissed.

A federal judge has ruled in favor of a public university that removed a Christian student from its graduate program in school counseling over her belief that homosexuality is morally wrong. Monday’s ruling, according to Julea Ward’s attorneys, could result in Christian students across the country being expelled from public university for similar views.

“It’s a very dangerous precedent,” Jeremy Tedesco, legal counsel for the conservative Alliance Defense Fund, told FOX News Radio. “The ruling doesn’t say that explicitly, but that’s what is going to happen.”

U.S. District Judge George Caram Steeh dismissed Ward’s lawsuit against Eastern Michigan University. She was removed from the school’s counseling program last year because she refused to counsel homosexual clients.

The university contended she violated school policy and the American Counseling Association code of ethics.

“Christian students shouldn’t be expelled for holding to and abiding by their beliefs,” said ADF senior counsel David French. “To reach its decision, the court had to do something that’s never been done in federal court: uphold an extremely broad and vague university speech code.”

Eastern Michigan University hailed the decision.

“We are pleased that the court has upheld our position in this matter,” EMU spokesman Walter Kraft said in a written statement. “Julea Ward was not discriminated against because of her religion. To the contrary, Eastern Michigan is deeply committed to the education of our students and welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds into our community.”

In his 48-page opinion, Judge Steeh said the university had a rational basis for adopting the ACA Code of Ethics.

“Furthermore, the university had a rational basis for requiring students to counsel clients without imposing their personal values,” he wrote in a portion of his ruling posted by The Detroit News. “In the case of Ms. Ward, the university determined that she would never change her behavior and would consistently refuse to counsel clients on matters with which she was personally opposed due to her religious beliefs – including homosexual relationships.”

Ward’s attorneys claim the university told her she would only be allowed to remain in the program if she went through a “remediation” program so that she could “see the error of her ways” and change her belief system about homosexuality.

The case is similar to a lawsuit the ADF filed against Augusta State University in Georgia. Counseling student Jennifer Keeton was allegedly told to stop sharing her Christian beliefs in order to graduate.

Keeton’s lawsuit alleged that she was told to undergo a reeducation program and attend “diversity sensitivity training.”

University officials declined to comment on specifics of the lawsuit but released a statement to FOX News that said Augusta State does not discriminate on the basis of students’ moral, religious, political or personal beliefs.

Tedesco said both cases should be a warning to Christians attending public colleges and universities.

“Public universities are imposing the ideological stances of private groups on their students,” he said. “If you don’t comply, you will be kicked out. It’s scary stuff and it’s not a difficult thing to see what’s coming down the pike.”

The Alliance Defense Fund told FOX News it will appeal the ruling.

Sigh…Harvey Milk Day in CA Schools–22 May 10

Thursday, May 20th, 2010
Parents warned about upcoming ‘Milk Day’ in Calif.

Harvey Milk 1A conservative activist is urging parents to take action against the homosexual indoctrination of “Harvey Milk Day,” which will affect California public school students as young as five years of age.

Last year, lawmakers in The Golden State designated May 22 be the day that schools honor the openly homosexual San Francisco politician who was assassinated in 1978. Although that date falls on a Saturday this year, Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com reports that May 17-28 may include exercises in celebration of Milk, as students will participate in commemorative activities honoring him without parental notification or consent.

The exercises could consist of anything teachers or school board members deem appropriate, including in-class reading and writing activities about the politician, or watching the film Milk. Assemblies teaching homosexuality and alternate lifestyles, cross-dressing contests, or mock “gay” parades and weddings could also take place.

Thomasson is alerting parents to contact their child’s school and ascertain the specific days and activities that will honor the late homosexual politician. If any celebration is scheduled to commemorate Milk, the pro-family activist urges parents to keep their children home.

“It is a moral crime for virtually all the Democrats in the California legislature to force this upon the six-million children in California schools,” Thomason argues.

He adds that Milk was one of the worst examples as a role model for children. “Milk believed in adult-child sex; he believed in lying to get ahead. He is one of the worst role models that children could have,” the SaveCalifornia.com president contends. “Teachers, principals, and schools that push Harvey Milk’s values are responsible for the degradation of children as human beings.”

Thomasson believes the government is indoctrinating children through the public school system — “Public schools are government schools,” he says – and he points out that every California school currently has a Gay Straight Alliance club or recognizes the Day of Silence.

Four in ten babies are born outside marriage in the U.S.

Waiting game: Women in the U.S. are waiting until they are older to have a baby – but they are not waiting to get married

The number of children born outside marriage in the United States has increased dramatically to four out of ten of all births.

Figures show that 41 per cent of children born in 2008 did not have married parents – up from 28 per cent in 1990.

Researchers have concluded that although Christian values still play an important role in American society, public attitudes have changed.

Having a child out of wedlock does not carry the stigma and shame it once did, they say.

The study also found that in America there is a declining number of teenage mothers and rising numbers of older parents.

By comparison, Britain has the worst teenage pregnancy rate in Europe with 45 per cent of children born outside of wedlock in 2008.

When Labour came to power in 1997, 36 per cent of children were born outside marriage.

The U.S. research, taken from census reports and health statistics by the Pew Research Centre, also outlines a trend of couples in western societies marrying later in life and delaying parenthood until they can afford it.

In 1990 only 9 per cent of births were to women 35 years and older and 13 per cent were to teenagers, but by 2008 10 per cent of births were to teenagers and 14 per cent were to older women.

‘The demography of motherhood in the U.S. has shifted strikingly in the past two decades,’ the report said.

The share of births to unmarried mothers had increased most among white and traditionally Catholic Hispanic women.

Mothers are also better educated than they were two decades ago. In 2006 more than half of mothers of newborns had some college education, an increase from 41 per cent in 1990.

The percentage was even higher among mothers 35 years and older, with 71 per cent.

‘The higher share of college-educated mothers stems both from their rising birth rates and from women’s increasing educational attainment,’ the report explained.

Attitudes have also altered in the past 20 years as the stigma of unmarried parenthood has softened and Americans marry later in life.

But two is still the ideal number of children in a family for many Americans, which hasn’t changed since the 1970s – and many couples cited ‘the joy of having children’ as the reason for starting a family.

However, a half century after the Food and Drug Administration approved the sale of birth control pills, nearly half of parents said ‘there wasn’t a reason; it just happened.’

spiritual-religiousFolks,

The slide continues as Americans move away from the truth as reported in this article.  May God have mercy on our land as fewer will be guided by truth in the years to come.
